SHUTTLE DRIVER  FULL TIME/SEASONAL

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a full-time/ seasonal Shuttle Driver.

The shuttle driver provides the first face-to-face contact with Mica guests who begin their trip in Kelowna. It is important for the shuttle driver to maintain the highest degree of professionalism, safety, and efficiency throughout the transfer day.

The shuttle driver must hold a current unrestricted BC Class 4 Driver’s license, be comfortable interacting with guests, be familiar with the structure and schedule of the transfer day, be capable of performing basic roadside maintenance, and have basic knowledge of the ski program at Mica. This is a part-time position.

Transfer days can take place on any day of the week (including holidays and weekends), but are scheduled well in advance of the winter season. The shuttle driver must be very reliable and committed to their scheduled driving days.

The shuttle driver’s day begins and ends in Kelowna. Inbound guests are picked up at pre-determined locations in Kelowna, and dropped off at Mica Creek after a brief stop at the Mica Office in Revelstoke. Outbound guests board the bus at Mica Creek and are dropped off at pre-determined locations in Kelowna at the end of the day.

GUEST SERVICES

  • Ensure guests’ first impressions of Mica shuttle driver are friendly, professional, and safety oriented
  • Maintain professional appearance including a Mica-logo uniform
  • Provide driver introduction, shuttle orientation (emergency exits, water, radio etc.) and transfer day schedule to guests before departing Kelowna
  • Assist guests with loading / unloading luggage
  • Maintain transfer day schedule; communicate any changes or delays to office and to guests
  • Work efficiently; be respectful of guests’ time
  • Adhere to proper driving conduct based on weather and road conditions

TRANSFER LOGISTICS

  • Read and understand transfer manifest the day prior to transfer
  • Check weather and road conditions prior to trip
  • Conduct pre-trip shuttle inspection
  • Ensure that snacks and refreshments remain stocked on bus
  • Provide transfer update to office from predetermined locations between Kelowna and Revelstoke
  • Maintain radio communication with Mica Truck between Revelstoke and staging
  • Load and unload guest / staff luggage and supplies at staging
  • Follow correct protocols for working around helicopters.
  • Fuel shuttle and wash outside / tidy inside to prepare for next drive

DRIVER'S ADMIN

  • Maintain required pre and post trip records
  • Inform Guest Services Manager and Lead Shuttle Driver of any damage to shuttle or necessary maintenance.
  • In the event of an incident, complete incident report forms within 24 hours of incident.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of on-board safety equipment (first aid kit, spare tire, flares, chains etc)

LEAD DRIVER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure all maintenance and maintenance schedules are up to date and are submitted to the office monthly
  • Ensure driver folder is up to date and on board shuttle
  • Ensure safety certificates are up to date and on board shuttle
  • Coordinate shuttle cleaning / washing
  • Assist in training of new drivers
  • Coordinate driver schedule
