Hot on the heels of Real Street, comes Real Snow, the first ever Winter X Games video-only contest. The event is invite only, and 8 of the world's premier snowboarders will not only be competing, they'll be recording it as well. What is unique is that the riders get to choose their own setup as long as it's in urban terrain. The 60-second videos will then be judged by industry pros, and the winner will get $50,000 and a Winter X Games gold medal. The videos will also be put online for the public to choose the fan favorite. That winner will receive $5,000 as their prize. The competitors will be Dan Brisse, JP Walker, Simon Chamberlain, Joe Sexton, Seth Huot, Nic Sauve, Jeremy Jones, and Louis-Felix Paradis. That is quite a list of some of the best rides out there, and Canada will be well represented by Chamberlain, Paradis, and Sauve. This unique type of contest, combing the best aspects of film and competition, had great success for the Real Street skateboarding version. Now with Real Snow it's the snowboarders' turn to lay it down. Helicopter skiing Canada.

Obviously the skiing we do here at Mica Heli is a bit different from the urban shredding that will be showcased, but nevertheless, with those athletes the results are sure to be spectacular. Jeremy Jones should be particularly interesting to watch. For the last little while, he's actually been doing more our type of backcountry skiing for his film Deeper, but for Real Snow, Jones is making a return to the urban scene. Urban is fun, and certainly fun to watch, but it still doesn't compete with the joys of heliskiing the backcountry. The powder is fresh and deep, and the lines smooth and natural. Heli ski vacations are the best way to fully enjoy the powder, and no one does it better than we do. Book a tour today and come see what we mean.
