As we greet the New Year, the world's best snowboarders are in Davos, Switzerland. January 2nd through the 9th will see the alpine town host a 6Star TTR World Snowboard Tour event. The 6Star O'Neill Evolution will feature both men's and women's contests in both slopestyle and halfpipe. Up for grabs are US$125,000, and 1000 TTR points. This will be the first 6Star of the season for the women, and just the second for the men. This means everyone will be charging hard to pick up some big points as competitors look forward to the final, the 6Star Burton US Open. Among the Canadians expected to go big is Sebastien Toutant, who won the men's first 6Star this season at the Beijing Air&Style. Heliskiing Canada.

For us here at Mica Heli, the start of the New Year will also see us gearing up for even more snow. Ski areas across North America have already reported snowpacks well above average, and in some cases more than they expect to see in an average year. We're not quite to that level because we always have a ton of snow for our heliskiing tours, but January is looking like it will be a big month. That's because we usually get our best storms in January and February. With La NiƱa giving us one of the best heli ski seasons in recent memory already, it's only going to get better as the season goes on.

If you're looking to make your first trip into the backcountry this year, you couldn't have picked a better time to come. Our heli skiing and heli boarding tours always fill up fast, but we still have a little space left. From ski and snowboard professionals to regular powder enthusiasts, everyone leaves Mica with a huge grin plastered on their face. Join us today and come see why.
